Ship/character breakdown: Interestingly enough, the only ship to appear twice (or three times, if I count the half drabbles) is Hilda Annersley/Nell Wilson. Lucy and Edmund Pevensie, John Walker, Miles Vorkosigan, Nancy Blackett, and Ryan Evans also show up twice counting the half-drabbles, and Nell Wilson gets an additional appearance on her own.

Specifics:

Best/worst title?

I am terrible at titles… Give Your Heart, Words to Build and Blues in the Night are probably my favourites. As for the worst, there’s a few contenders! But probably Questions and Choices, for sheer laziness - it is literally the two [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks prompts it fitted.

Best/worst summary?

I’m not terribly good at summaries either… a few I like:
Prisons Without Keys: Miles reflects on the things that bind him.
Words to Build: Tom Riddle tore Ginny apart with his diary. She put herself back together again with her own.
Don’t Lie: Truths, half-truths, and lies John and Nancy tell each other over the years.
Aftermath: "Lirael lay numbly, not really listening as everyone else continued sorting through the aftermath of the binding of Orannis. She wasn’t thinking of anything, not really; she just lay there, cradling the soft stone statue with her single remaining hand." (Cheating a little, it’s a quote from the fic).

Best/worst first line?

Just doing best for these!

Give Your Heart: Most of the elves of Mirkwood were feasting; but Legolas, standing unseen in the shadow of the carved archway, noticed an absence, like a hole in the air.
Prisons Without Keys: This twisted body
Discovery: Fred and George shuffled out of Filch’s office, ginger heads bowed and shoulders hunched, trying very hard to look as despondent as two first-years just awarded a week of detentions should be.
After the Fire: The campfire was dying down, and so was the talk around it.
Once Among the Stars I Danced: Bound to the earth forevermore,

Best/worst last line(s)?

Again, best only.

Give Your Heart: And he will sit there for a long time, thinking and wondering, just as she sat all those years ago.
Thoughtless: It doesn’t fill the fierce longing he keeps buried in the deep places of his soul, but it’s almost - almost - enough.
Words to Build: It felt like clawing herself an inch closer to freedom.
After the Fire: Diving into her sleeping bag, Titty fell asleep at once, to dream of fire and copper and shooting stars.
Vigil: He would never know his stern Head of House had watched him all through that night, tears sometimes escaping to roll down her furry face.
My Dancing Day: As for Una, the magic of that dance had never quite released her, or so it seemed to her; it was from that moment she began to realise how much she cared for Walter Blythe.

General questions:

Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?

Rather less than I hoped, really. Well, there’s always a new year!

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?

Hmm… I didn’t think I would write High School Musical fic! And my dive into the Vorkosigan saga was this year, even if I didn’t write much fic for it.

What's your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.

Probably a tie between Give Your Heart, Words to Build and Don't Lie.

Okay, NOW your most popular story.

Using AO3’s stats, it’s Thoughtless by views and kudos, My Dancing Day by comment threads. On fanfiction.net it’s Give Your Heart by views, Blues in the Night and Vigil by reviews (I think. I can’t sort by year there, so it relies on me not missing any!). I am not even going to attempt LJ or tumblr :P

Story most underappreciated by the universe?

None in particular, really… I mean, if I will write in obscure teeny-tiny fandoms, I can’t complain :P Words to Build, maybe, by AO3 stats? It got a few notes on tumblr, though.

Story that could have been better?

All of them, probably ;) If I have to pick one, maybe Fancy? I’d hoped to make that one a fair bit longer, but it just wouldn’t come out.

Sexiest story?

I suppose it’s Don’t Lie by default, it’s the only one that isn’t rated G! (Aside from Thoughtless, but that was for homophobia). And even that one’s only T… Genfic is my thing, lol.

Saddest story?

Once Among the Stars I Danced, I think. Or if poetry doesn’t count… maybe Give Your Heart or Vigil?

Most fun?

Discovery is quite fun!

Story with single sweetest moment?

Hrm. There’s a few… but I think Hilda writing for Nell in A Proper Ending might win.

Hardest story to write?

My Dancing Day was quite hard, at least partly because of the deadline. The two poems, Prisons Without Keys and Once Among the Stars I Danced, had the natural challenge inherent to the form. Writing something supposed to be written by Hilda Annersley (in A Proper Ending) is always intimidating! The future tense section in Give Your Heart was also rather a headache.

Easiest/most fun story to write?

Don’t Lie and Aftermath both seemed to come together fairly easily, there was no ‘and what now?’ writer’s block - quite the opposite with Don’t Lie, it would not stop growing!

Did any stories shift your perceptions of the characters?

Thoughtless, perhaps - it really made me get into Thomas’s head, and subsequently come to really love and root for him. (Yes, he can be an absolutely terrible person, I know… but he does try. Sometimes. He has a heart, he’s just very good at hiding it.)

Most overdue story?

Telephone, in the sense that all my 50x500 Swallows and Amazons stories are way overdue really.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

I don’t know about huge risks… I played with tenses in Give Your Heart, and learned what a headache future tense can be ;) I used a rather stream-of-consciousness style in Words to Build that was interesting to play with.

What are your fic writing goals for next year?

WRITE MOAR FIC!
Ok, more seriously - at least one fic a month is a new year’s resolution. Get a few more of the 50x500 Swallows and Amazons stories done… the 500 prompts meme (I haven’t forgotten, [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook!)... Some of the bunch of plotbunnies I have on file? I’ve signed up for trope_bingo, so there’s that to do. I’d like to take a look at the NYR challenge for Yuletide, too.

Well, good luck with writing moar fic!! (Life does sometimes intervene, though). And I like the opening line for Give Your Heart there particularly, but you've got a lot of really nice ones!

Looking over your list of stories, I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed "Words to Build." I should re-read it.

You and your obscure fandoms. :) You ventured into some bigger fandoms this year...*wipes away tear* I'm so proud of you!
