Title: Give Your Heart
Fandom: The Hobbit & The Lord Of The Rings (movies, essentially)
Rating: G
Length: 867 words
Content notes: Pairings: Tauriel&Legolas friendship, mention of Tauriel/Kili and Legolas/Gimli.
Author´s Notes: Written for the "fast-forward" challenge at [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks. Writing in the future tense is weird, people! I had never been so struck by the difference between future tense in Spanish and English before, since Spanish doesn't use an auxiliary verb for it but has different verb endings (e.g. "I love" = "Yo amo", "I will love" = "Yo amaré")... I wonder what's more common in all languages?
Summary: Should elves give their hearts to mortals? Two conversations between Tauriel and Legolas, one past and one to come.

Title: Rîn
Fandom: The Lord Of The Rings & The Hobbit
Rating: G
Content notes: 1 picture, edited in GIMP.
Artist notes: For the jewellery challenge at [livejournal.com profile] fan_flashworks. This was going to be elven jewellery in general, then got focussed solely on crowns. The title (according to Hiswelókë's sindarin dictionary) means "crowned". This was the final work for my 25 fandom spread badge! Yes I'm proud of this badge :D
Summary: Elven rulers of Middle Earth and their crowns.

(Had another go at this - It's really fun, you get such odd prompts, and you're writing for five different fandoms at the same time!)

1: Pick five fandoms.
2: Visit this site to find your first RANDOM POEM OF POWER. Write down the 5th line (yes, even if it's an E.E. Cummings poem and you wind up with an apostrophe). Repeat five times and - you guessed it - list 'em in alphabetical order! (No cheating, mind! This is a challenge and it's always been about creativity.)
3: I think you can see where this is going. Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting - make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt. You don't have to include it in the half-drabble - it's just inspiration.
4: Bravo! Have a cookie.

After re-watching all three movies in three days (the first two on vhs - it made me feel old :P) I felt like re-reading the books. The picture is the cover of my copy - beautiful illustrated hardback. It's a lovely edition, but I have to admit it's a bit awkward for actually reading, since it weighs a ton! (Not quite as bad as my all-in-one Chronicles of Narnia hardback, though...That one is like an encyclopaedia tome).

So far, I've read the foreword, prologue (interesting couple of spoilers there about characters surviving, even though it was written by Tolkien - still not half as bad as others I've read, where they told you the whole story!), and the first three chapters. I'm enjoying it a lot, too.

After the cut, thoughts on the books, films, and differences between them - SPOILERS for both.
