Dear Unsent Letters Writer,

First, thank you so much for this! Here are general notes, and some ideas for each fandom. This may seem long, but I'm just trying to make it as detailed as possible in case that makes it easier for you. I adore each and every one of these fandoms, so getting fic for any of them will make me a very, very happy person!

General stuff:

A character piece, a plotty story, an exploration of friendship or romance, an adventure, a quiet moment, a missing scene, a different POV to the canon... Any and all of these are great! Gen, het, slash, femslash, are all fine. Ratings-wise, I’m fine with anything. I’m happy with (of age, consensual) sex scenes if that’s where the story’s going - though gen fic is equally awesome! I’m not too fond of highly detailed graphic violence, but if it’s absolutely necessary to your fic, go ahead.

Things I like: friendship, friends helping each other out, humour, banter, nerdiness, science, happy (or happy-ish at least, not overwhelming despair) endings, sibling love (and family interactions in general), found families, friends-to-lovers, mutual pining that resolves in friends-to-lovers… and a great many other things! These were just the first that came to mind.

Do Not Wants: suicide - I’d prefer it if you didn’t kill any major characters (other than canon deaths), but if you absolutely must, please avoid suicide! - , noncon/dubcon, incest, gratuitous graphic violence, underage sex, unrelieved gloom and angst, character/ship bashing, AUs. While I'm fine with “reasonable” crossovers with fandoms I know (same world and time period, or canonical time/world change shenanigans), please keep the main focus on the requested fandom.

Listed in alphabetical order. Obviously, all optional details are optional! I'm just giving them in case you're interested (or utterly stuck for ideas and wondering why you ever offered to write this fandom :P). They’re absolutely not intended to be mutually exclusive, nor exhaustive - mix, blend, combine, as you like, or throw them out the window! I include them in my letters because I’ve found them really useful myself :) Spoilers abound I’m afraid, so if there’s something on here you’re interested in reading/watching and haven’t yet, I’d avoid that section. Feel free to include any other characters, nominated or not.

Chalet School - Elinor M. Brent-Dyer

Format: Letters

Elisaveta Arsonira Helston & Any - Elisaveta writing to her friends over the holidays? After she’s had to leave school? Letters to her father after they’ve both emigrated?
Hilda Annersley/Nell Wilson - The year Nell’s already in the Oberland while Hilda is still at St Briavel’s immediately sprang to mind! Or while Hilda’s on that educational tour? Or smaller letters, little notes they leave for each other? Basically I love them and their relationship.
Jane Carew & Any - Letters to her family, her friends in the troupe? Or to her school friends? If Jane writes like she talks they’ll be delightful!
Joey Bettany & Simone Lecoutier & Frieda Mensch & Marie von Eschenau - school holiday letters? Or later, when they’re married and scattered? Feel free to focus on any subset of the quartette!
Margia Stevens & Jacynth Hardy & Nina Rutherford - I like the idea of the musical geniuses (genii?) of the school corresponding, giving each other tips and advice and linking different eras of the school.

Format: Letters or (or and, if you feel like it!) diaries

Margot Maynard & Len Maynard & Con Maynard - surely they wrote while Margot was in Canada? Later on, when they’re grown up? Or if they keep diaries, the same event from different perspectives?
Robin Humphries & Any (Chalet School) - Holiday letters? Letters after she enters the convent? Or a diary - she has a very eventful life!

Crater School - Chaz Brenchley

Format: Letters

Jessica Abramoff & Any - letters to Rachel? Letters from the Mishtwins’ campaign to get like half the school to write to her? To others of the Crew in the holidays? To her parents, patching that relationship?
Levity Buchanan & Any - To Florian? To her mother? To others of the Crew in the holidays? To Charm when she’s stuck at home sick? Unsent letters to her father?
Mary Elllen McKay & Any - To her family? To others of the Crew in the holidays? To big Martian magazines? For the Craterean - or maybe she sets up some sort of letter exchange scheme with other schools?
Natasha “Tasha” Mishkin & Any, Tatiana “Tawney” Mishkin & Any - Giving these together - To their parents? To their brother (what is up with him anyhow, that he seems to be always injured? Mysterious Martian disease to land him at the San, maybe?)? To others of the Crew in the holidays?
Rachel Abramoff & Any - letters to Jessica? Letters she wasn’t allowed to send and saved for the holidays, maybe? To others of the Crew in the holidays? To her parents, patching that relationship?
Rowany De Vere & Any - letters from Oxford? Solving problems for a new generation of prefects, maybe? To her father and brothers?

Double Act - Jacqueline Wilson

Format: Letters or (or and, if you feel like it!) diaries
No bullet points for this one because it’s basically all one request - tell me more about the twins! Letters between them while Garnet’s at school? Diaries from either/both post-canon? Does Ruby get to be a child actress after all? Or go into acting as an adult? What does Garnet do when she grows up?

High Rollers (Aerois campaign)

Format: Letters

Any (Stormchasers) & Any (Stormchasers) - I would love to see letters between all the party, or any subset of it! I can imagine Nova writing long rambling essays, Sentry nice caring "are you taking care of yourself" letters, Lucius fussing about his handwriting, Aila blunt and minimal, Quill replying super late...
Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto & Edea Elenasto - maybe correspondence is how the twins grow closer? Does Lucius write to her during his adventures? Perhaps post-canon, Edea wants to see a bit of the wider universe, does some travelling?
Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto & Fayeth - I love the friendship between these two! Fayeth sending him updates on the Stormchaser, on Gusthaven?
Lucius Virion-Elluin Elenasto/Aridan Irisen-Pelony Starsorrow - I love the idea of them courting through letters! Perhaps Lucius is casual about dangers they’ve faced that nearly give Aridan heart attacks when he reads about them?
Nova V'Ger & Any (V'Ger family) - we know Nova writes to her family - letters during their adventures? Or post-canon, when she’s off exploring the stars?
Qillek Ad Khollar & Mireeka Ad Khollar - increasingly irate letters from Mireeka interspersed with the occasional Sending from Quill? Or maybe Quill actually starts writing back? (He lost his dominant hand - is Nova’s wing a good replacement for writing? Does he hire a scribe? Bully/beg one of his friends into writing for him?)

Swallows and Amazons - Arthur Ransome

Format: Letters

Dorothea Callum & Dick Callum - letters while they’re at school? Later, at university, during the war?
Jim Turner & Molly Blackett - Jim is not perhaps the best correspondent, but he tries - letters while he’s away, Molly telling him about the girls?
Nancy Blackett/John Walker - my forever OTP, you cannot go wrong. Letters at school (maybe under cover, would they be allowed to write to each other?)? When John’s training for the Navy, Nancy… maybe at Oxford or Cambridge? Or during the war? Letters from John at sea?
Susan Walker & Peggy Blackett - sharing recipes, plans for improving their camping? Letters during the war?
Titty Walker & Any - the Swallows seem very close despite being at different boarding schools during term time, do they write to each other? Or letters to the Amazons or the Ds? To the Eels?
Tom Dudgeon & Bess "Port" Farland & Nell "Starboard" Farland - I love the friendship between these three! Do they write while at school, make plans for the club? Do the twins write from Paris? (If you fancy a crossover, I would enjoy the twins going to the Chalet School instead!)
Tom Dudgeon/Dorothea Callum - Is Tom, like Titty, a recipient of Outlaw of the Broads instalments? Do they write Coot Club plans? I also ship them, and Dot would absolutely write the floweriest love letters.

Wayward Children - Seanan McGuire

Jack Wolcott & Jill Wolcott - smuggled or truly unsent letters, between the castle and the windmill?
Jack Wolcott & Any - Does Jack write love letters to Alexis? Surely she keeps notes of her experiments - do the ones on Alexis oscillate between strict scientific impartiality and lovestruck teenager? Pro/con lists as she waits out her year and tries to decide whether to kill Jill to return to the Moors, or leave her behind?
Nancy Whitman & Any - A diary of her time in the Halls of the Dead? Unsent letters drafted to the friends she left behind when she returned there? Letters (sent or not) to her parents while at school?
Onishi Sumi & Any - A Confection diary? Letters to her family, to her candycorn farmer?
Katherine Lundy & Any - Unsent letters to Moon while she is trapped away, in her boarding school, after she is exiled? Letters to her nephew, who seems to find the Market too? Letters sent to the Market via her Nephew?
Regan Lewis & Any - A Hooflands diary? A secret diary during her time at Whitethorn? Unsent letters to Chicory and the rest of her centaur family?
Eleanor West & Any - Letters to old students, who graduated or who found their doors again? A diary of the school through the years?
