Fanfic Meme: day two
May. 6th, 2012 10:56 pm2 – Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.
It’s possible I might write again in any of these, but if it doesn’t say anything else I don’t have anything planned.
• Anne of Green Gables: 1 fic. I do usually offer it for yuletide, but it’s not one of my plot bunny breeding grounds.
• Artemis Fowl: 1 poem.
• The Big Bang Theory: 1 fic.
• Firefly/Serenity: 1 fic.
• Harry Potter: 10 fics. It’s pretty likely I’ll write more here, but there’s nothing in the works right now.
• I, Robot: 1 fic. Another standard yuletide offer.
• Little Women: 2 fics. And one more yuletide classic.
• The Lord Of The Rings: 2 fics.
• Master Harold...and the Boys: 1 poem. Where is the fandom for this film??? It’s just bursting with possibilities for fic, but I haven’t found any anywhere :( I’d write it myself if I knew more about Apartheid-era South Africa.
• The Mentalist: 2 fics. One fic for
• Swallows and Amazons: 7 fics. Definitely still writing, I’m not even a quarter of the way through my 50x500 challenge... it would help if I didn’t research quite so obsessively. Seriously, self, write the “Chocolate” fic already!

Date: 2012-05-07 03:03 pm (UTC)I haven't seen Master Harold...and the Boys, but it sounds really interesting. If you're interested in apartheid-era South Africa, I recommend Nelson Mandela's autobiography, Long Walk To Freedom. For a slightly different take (the Black Consciousness Movement of the 1970s), Mamphela Ramphele's autobiography, Across Boundaries, is wonderful. And for a white person's view, try My Traitor's Heart, by Rian Malan. His family were major supporters of apartheid, and he writes about coming to terms with that legacy.
(Why yes, I took a course on South African history, why do you ask? :))

Date: 2012-05-07 09:26 pm (UTC)I do have an assortment of LOTR poems that I forgot to list, maybe you're thinking of those?
Argh, I so didn't need a new research area, I already spend hours looking up random details about pre- and during WWII UK! :P Seriously, thanks for the recommendations, I'll keep an eye out for those.
